Book Review – “Eat that Frog” by Brian Tracy

Winners don’t do different things; they do things differently.

This was rightly said by the eminent Indian author and motivational speaker Shiv Khera, and this is what makes distinctions between winners and laggards. The ability to not complete the important work first makes it all the more difficult. In life, sometimes we feel that there isn’t enough time for everything on our to-do lists. We are constantly racing against the clock or deadlines. At times we lose track of time and forget to complete the work most important to us. Do you ever feel that you are lagging behind in work and getting less done in a fixed amount of time? If so, then it means that you are undergoing a problem known as Procrastination. Procrastination is the term used for people who tend to delay or postpone their tasks . The book, “Eat that Frog” by Brian Tracy tackles this issue and gives us valuable solutions to overcome it. The book maybe small in pages but is huge in content and makes an attempt to give 21 easy and practical ways to stop procrastination and get things done in less time. It is interesting to know that just by planning in advance, applying rules like 80/20 and identifying our key constraints can immensely help in contributing to our effective time management skills.

The key to becoming a successful person is focusing our time on the important tasks first and later going to the rest. This book includes effective strategies to make our time productive and worthwhile such as planning beforehand, considering the consequences of our actions, motivating ourselves into action and single handling every task etc. This self-help book would help in motivating and encouraging people to work towards the betterment of their lives. For Tracy, eating a frog is a metaphor for tackling the most challenging tasks in our lives and the ones that have the greatest positive impact on us. “Eat that Frog” helps people in understanding how to organize our day right from early morning to late night. This book helps in understanding the three most important ways to practice effective time management which includes decision making, discipline and determination.

Overall, this book is a great read for all ages from adolescents to adults. This life changing book will help in ensuring that everyone gets the most of their important tasks done, stop procrastinating and get more done in less time.
