A wise man once said, “It seems to me that the less I fight my fear, the less it fights back. If I can relax, fear relaxes too”. We’ve all heard someone or the other telling us “You have to overcome your fear.” But is it possible to eradicate all our fears and literally become a fearless person? Or will we always be wedged with these fears of ours?
Studies reveal that it’s not humanly possible to be completely fearless. However, there are a few techniques that will assist us to be creative despite our fears, learn how ideas work, understand where creativity comes from, and how to use it wisely.
Here are a few techniques that will help us understand the importance of letting our fears coexist with our passions.
- Be courageous enough to bring out the talent in you
The courage to create, to put yourself out there, and expose your innermost self to the world, is not an easy task. However, it’s essential to realize and understand that although fear is necessary to prevent stupid and reckless actions it also holds us back. As the saying goes “The universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, and then stands back to see if we can find them”. In order to uncover these jewels and create things that are beautiful, we need to be brave and fearless enough in order to pave the way for our creativity to flow.
- Ideas Come and Go
It is a universal truth that ideas are everywhere in the world. They come and go, as moments of inspiration to any individual. If we accept them, nourish them, act on them, they indeed stick around. However, if they are ignored, they tend to disappear as well. Therefore, if a plan comes to your mind through creativity, do it before you forget it. If an idea, comes to your mind, grab the opportunity and present it on a piece of paper before it gets too late. At the end of the day, it is by acts and not by ideas that people live.
- Keep faith in yourself and your abilities
If we travel back in time, we’ll see that humans have always been creators. Not people sitting around, twiddling their thumbs, waiting for things to happen instead we believe in taking action. Do you want to write a book? Make a song? Direct a movie? Learn a dance? Explore a land? Do it. Psychologists say, it is very important to have faith in our abilities. So, if you want to do something, do it without a doubt. Therefore, although we shouldn’t force big magic, it is also important to understand that we are entitled to create, no matter the number of rejections or setbacks we face.
The takeaway from this article is to let our fears coexist with our passions, give ourselves permission to create and most of all, have faith in our abilities.
All in all, let’s live by the words of Caroline Ghosn, “Believe in yourself. You are enough.”
