While inquiring into the Trans disciplinary Theme ‘How we express ourselves’, the Music and Visual Arts department collaborated and provided an opportunity to the PYP 3 students to delve deeper into art and music styles of Africa. The students explored about the instruments and styles of Arican Folk music and the traditional percussion instruments. They created the traditional African face masks in their Visual Art classes and decorated them. Taking their learning forward, students practiced singing and performed African songs expressively accompained by simple/ complex body percussion rhythm pattern while wearing the African face masks created by them. While enjoying the performance wearing the masks created by them, the students displayed self management skills and communication skills.
