2nd of August 2012, i.e. Rakshabhandhan was a glorious day for four students of Pathways Schools, as they went to Rashtrapati Bhawan to tie Rakhi to the president. Three students naming Dhruv Narula from Grade 5, Nandini Saluja from Grade 3 and Gurveen Singh Thamam from grade 5 were from Pathways World School, Aravali and Preksha Jain from Grade 6 from Pathways School Gurgaon. They were accompanied by Komal Dua who is Faculty in Primary School.
The students reached Rashtrapati Bhawan at 8:45 a.m. and entered inside at 9:15 a.m. there were around 100 students from 24 different schools accompanied by one teacher. Firstly the students were served juices and cookies and then they were given a tour of Rashtrapati Bhawan, then they were taken to Ashoka Hall where all the award ceremony use to take place. Further they were taken to Dining Hall where 104 people at a time could have their meals.
“The most interesting part was the Dining Hall” said Dhruv Narula, from Grade 5. He continues “there were Red, Yellow and Green lights for all the guests at the dining Table. Yellow light signifies, food is ready to serve, green light signifies to serve the food and red light signifies to remove the plates. There was 1 waiter for two guests”.
Then the students were taken to Mughal Garden where they saw the beauty of nature. Also, they were taken to the Museum where there were statues and pictures of all the previous presidents of India.
Then the formal ceremony took place where Nandini Saluja from Grade 3 was the first one among all to tie the Rakhi to the President of India Pranab Mukherjee. After her, students from different schools also tied Rakhi to the President. After this breakfast was served to the students and they went home taking the wonderful memories with them.
