Govt raises nursery admission age to 4 yrs | Pathways World School Noida Gurgaon & Aravali

On a recent news update, HRD Minister Mr. Kapil Sibal announced that the Nursery Admission age of students should be at a minimum of four years. So as a result the scene of nursery admission of the parents of 3 year olds, gearing up for the kid’s admission this year, has to make a year-long wait. Mr. Sibal came to this decision after meeting both the school administration and the parents from the capital.

The age of admission to nursery in Delhi had previously been reduced after the recommendations of a committee headed by former CBSE Chairman Ashok Ganguly. But aggrieved parents claimed that it was difficult for three year olds to adjust to school environment at such a young age. The move is seen as a step to reduce pressure on thousands of parents who join the nursery admission rush when their children are barely past two.  The minister also supported opening formal education in Class I only when a child is six years old.  Sibal said he would take up the matter with Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. “The measures can only be implemented after the Delhi government accepts it, as Education is a state subject,” he said.
